LoggingOff has been set up to exchange clear, concise and up to date information, including joint North-South civil society position papers on the FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) negotiations. The site is a one-stop-shop for all those involved or interested in these negotiations.

Those involved in the site believe FLEGT is a process to improve forest governance, increase transparency and strengthen the rights of local communities, which are key conditions to reduce deforestation (legal or illegal). At the moment national level processes to reduce deforestation - such as REDD (Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) - threaten to undermine governance reforms, therefore this site also documents those national processes and the NGO activities to counter them.
